Lake Aiguebelette (77 km)

Lake Aiguebelette, which means "beautiful small waters", is a natural lake in the Savoie forelands, in the French Alps.
Situated at approximately 40 km from the Côte Saint André (10 km from Chambéry), Lake Aiguebelette, with a surface area of 1 346 acres, is the fifth natural French lake, after Lake Geneva, Lake Hourtin and Carcans, the Bourget Lake and Lake Annecy. Bordered to the east by the Épine mountain range which culminates in Mount Grelle at 1 425 meters and to the west by Mount Tournier, its maximum depth is 71 meters. At first sight, it is often green in color, while Lake Annecy is blue and the Bourget Lake is more often steel grey.
Many fishermen practice their favorite past time in these waters.
Mostly calm, the lake is equipped with a rowing base created in 1981 to replace the former villa of the writer Frédéric Dard/San-Antonio, where highly qualified rowing teams come to practice. The lake was selected for the world rowing championships in 1997.
The Épine mountain range, on the northern bank of the lake, is equipped with a via ferrata. Paragliders can take off from the peak of the Épine mountain and land close to the lake...
