
Joseph Ferdinand Cheval, better known as the "facteur Cheval", (19th April 1836 - 19th August 1924 in Hauterives in the Drôme region) is a French postman who dedicated 33 years of his life to building an "ideal palace" and eight additional years to building his own tomb, both of which are considered to be masterpieces of naïve architecture.
