The Cherry Rocher cellars in La Côte St André

Imagine a fifteenth century monastery in which the young Barthélémy ROCHER arrives, to meet his uncle, who is a canon. First of all, he discovers the art of distillation which reveals the aroma of fruit and plants. Then he imagined how to macerate fruit and plants, which he had the good idea to sweeten, for our great pleasure.
The first distillery in France was created in 1705 under the reign of Louis XIV.

Eight successive generations worked in this same building, whose cellars are so cool, to ensure the preservation of the drinks ordered by the nobility of Grenoble for special occasions (King's visit, marriage of the dauphin...).
Brillat-Savarin wrote: "The best liqueurs are produced in La Côte St-André".
Visit the cellars and the distillery with its copper and wooden stills. Collection of rare nineteenth and twentieth century posters. Fairy tale books from the beginning of the century...
