Château de Brangues in Morestel (55 km from the gîte)

Nestled in a 42 acre park, the domain spreads out from a group of buildings flanked by a round tower, service quarters and an elegant pavilion, formerly an orange grove, along the path leading to the château.
The château was built between the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries.
In 1927, Paul Claudel bought the Château de Brangues and lived there every summer until he finally retired there. The great men of his time, such as the president Edouard Herriot and the writer François Mauriac, were his guests. The writer, who died in Paris on February 23rd 1955 at the age of 87, is buried in the shade of a poplar tree in the park.
