The Château de Vizille was rebuilt in the seventeenth century. In 1788, the "Salle du jeu de paume" [Hand tennis Hall] hosted the assembly of the Three Orders of the Dauphiné which was to bring about the meeting of the States General, thus giving birth to the revolutionary process.
The Museum of the French Revolution is currently housed in the Château.
Open to the public all year round, the gardens of the Domaine de Vizille provide surroundings conducive to relaxation and discovery. Two hundred and forty seven acres of greenery stretch out from the Château. Punctuated by a magnificent lake and numerous canals, the domain offers interesting possibilities for walks.
The park is a listed historical monument and certified "remarkable garden".
